Application areas of heat exchangers
A heat exchanger is a device that allows the heat exchange with a variety of media, which can be liquid, gaseous and even solid. Prototypes and pilot models of equipment originate from the most ancient times – when man was not yet on the Earth. During the day, the sea and the earth are heated by the Sun, and at night heat is released, so that a balance is maintained on the planet. There were mentions of a plate heat exchanger in ancient frescoes in the VI century BC.
Modern equipment can be of various types: shell-and-tube, twisted, lamellar, spiral, water and air. These devices are used in almost all areas of industry. They are used in heat supply systems for hot water supply, in thermal and nuclear power plants, in the chemical industry, as well as in ventilation and heating systems. They are used in the food industry for cooling and heating, as well as pasteurization of many products.
