Candles of Remembrance

Today is a day when our hearts clench with pain, and our memories return us to that distant and terrible morning of June 22, 1941. A day that divided the life of our country into “before” and “after,” a day when the world exploded with the roar of war, and every home, every family learned the meaning of loss, pain, and hope.

This night, millions of candles were lit across Russia in memory of those who did not return from the battlefields, died of wounds, or were tortured in concentration camps. For those who worked in the rear, sleep-deprived and underfed, bringing Victory closer with all their might. For all those who did not live to see May 9, 1945, just a few days, hours, and moments…

Every family in our country cherishes its own war story: photographs, letters, medals, stories told by grandparents. From mouth to mouth, from generation to generation, we carefully pass it on, for it is our shared memory, our shared pain, and our pride.

And may this day be not only a day of sorrow, but also a day of our shared strength. Strength to remember and preserve peace.

Our deepest respects and eternal memory to the fallen heroes.
